Read Through History – July

Another month and another round of books. It seems the journey through time is taking a few detours as there have been a few other books I want to read.

Anyway…

1) The Plot Against America by Phillip Roth. This was going to feature a lot later as it’s set during the Forties but it was my choice for the Book Club I am part of at the day job so I read it then. This is set in an alternative history where Charles Lindbergh becomes President of the USA and takes Hitler’s side instead of the allies when the Second World War starts. The novel follows Roth’s family and how they would have fared in this reality.

2) Sharpe’s Havoc by Bernard Cornwell. Richard Sharpe is beginning to settle into his role as an officer.

3) Fire in the East by Harry Sidebottom. Set during the Third Century Crisis when Rome is at war with Persia, despite all the political upheaval in Italy.

And that’s as far as it goes for this month. Not a lot, I know but I was moving house at the time!
